PCCY's Block By Block Party

By Public Citizens for Children and Youth (other events)

3 Dates Through Sep 17, 2017

Why Minecraft?  If you’re unfamiliar with Minecraft, all you need to know is that it’s a game that encourages creative thinking, exploration and collaborative play and has been embraced by educators all over the world as a new tool to engage with their students. The game world is presented in first-person perspective—you can go anywhere and do anything. How you play Minecraft is entirely up to who is playing, whether you want to build structures or sculptures using cube building blocks or explore the ‘open’ world and embark on adventures alone or with friends.

Why Our Event?  Our event will feature over 1500 "Miners" and "Crafters" playing the game they love and celebrating their passion for creative play, with competitive and non-competitive sessions and prizes for participants. The money raised will further our mission to improve the life chances of children by advocating for adequate funding of public schools, affordable and better access to pre-k for working families, and making sure every child has health care coverage.

  • FOR GAMERS:  Enjoy over four hours of everything you love about Minecraft.  You'll have the ability to share and learn, tips and tricks with others and compete for prizes.  Form teams and guilds.  Make new friends.  Experience life on a college campus.  After Gamers are done, they can participate in all of the activities below at our "Block Party".
  • NON GAMERS:  Our "Block Party" includes constructing arts & crafts projects.  Doing a building block challenge.  Singing along in Minecraft Karaoke.  Walk around our vendor fair with lots of Minecraft merchandise.   Experience exciting scientific experiments performed by college students.  Preview the latest games for young adults by local software developers.  There'll be live music, food, fun and prizes throughout the day!  There wll be so much to do at our Block Party!
